MUSIC THAT IS CLEAN, FOCUSED, ORGANIC AND HONEST

Hailing from north of the border, in a province which is home to one of the original 6 NHL teams and a wide and diverse culture, Denis Turbide lives and breathes the acoustic guitar. A native of Quebec, Turbide has made his home in Ottawa, and has become an entrepreneur of the music scene locally, either trying to play in cafe's or at paid gigs, or within his own home for the most part of 30 years.
With his effort to put forth a record, came reward. After recording and releasing his CD almost a year a go today and selling it through CD Baby, it has been viewed more than one hundred thousand times on Itunes alone, and that doesn't include his Youtube or Myspace page.
But what struck me most about this artist, wasn't the depth of vocals this man could reach. Because, in fact, all of music he has produced is solely done on the guitar. It was the type of approach to music in which he plays, that he has left himself wide open to his imagination.
He can hit any note in the book, without worrying whether someone can keep in tune with him. His music is organic and can best be described as though you were a bird in flight.
It is the most honest sound out there.
With one full listen of all his songs on Myspace, whether or not your a fan of the genre, you have to respect that this is what a real artist is. It's that passion of wanting to tell the whole world a story and with a blank canvas to do it.
It's pure and warm, and everything about his style is Canadian. From the slight bass run on the E string, to the pull on and pull offs of even the smallest touch, it resonates and every single note is heard clearly. With references to Lightfoot, Rush and Guess Who, Turbide can still be distinctively put into his own category.
It's as though someone stuck a microphone up to his guitar in his living room and nothing was said for the next hour. But why is his music so effective to the listener? It's clean and focused, the tempo is spot on and there is a mood in which each song is delivered.
Denis is an accomplished guitar player, but so are thousands of other players in the world. The reason he has finally found recognition in his music is because the real listeners of music know when a good artist presents themselves.
Karma has finally kicked in, and good music has prevailed.
