NEW YORK BAND HAS GOOD HEAD START
By KRYS GRANDMOND

Based on the fact that I have no clue where to start with this CD, let's just start from the beginning.
I just got off a 10 and a half hour shift at Wendy's and am pretty exhausted. Had the first song been a slow-tempo, ballad-type, I probably wouldn't be writing this, but as it is, "Got Concept" isn't.
From the second it started playing, I found myself wishing I was from New York so that I might be able to see these guys live. Their up-beat, rugged rock sound makes you want to move and I think, while the cd sounds great, it's one of those groups that you just HAVE to see live to fully experience their music.
"So Last Year", their second song on the EP follows the same groove that started it all and I think I may have grabbed a second wind. Good thing I did too because "Assumer" is a very quick moving song with a catchy beat that may cause you to lose your head if it's not firmly attached. I'm serious. I dare you not to move to that song. If you CAN do it, it will take an immense amount of effort.
There's a saying that says "leave the best for last", and the Bad Mouths have done just that. "Loneliness Compound", the final song on the EP, and quite easily my favourite of the four, is what great rock songs are made of. A excellent demonstration of the band's musical and vocal talent, the song combines a great guitar intro with a steady rhythm that doesn't disappoint. If the break between songs made you stop moving, don't worry, this song will pick it up all over again and have you staring in awe when the whole thing is over.
I know the words "that's it?" came to my mind when the cd ended. I'm hoping the band can answer that with something along the lines of "more in the works" or "you haven't heard the last of us".
Based on what I've heard so far, I don't think that will be much of a problem.
