MODERN SCIENCE Self-Titled

By MELISSA WISEMAN

In all honesty, I have to say that the first thing that caught my interest to this band was their band name. I know, I know, I shouldn’t base anything on this. But Science is one of my passions, which is great considering I spent five years doing a degree in science.

But this isn’t about me. Let’s get back to the topic at hand; Modern Science.

Modern Science hails from Las Vegas. This duo consists of Kane Churko on vocals and guitar and Mike McHugh on bass and background vocals.

Ever since I started listening to music from these guys my mood as changed. The beats make you want to tap your head to the music and rock back and forth. Their debut album starts off with a song entitled Look Where You’re Walkin’. The music quietly starts as more instruments are brought into the mix. The beats are catchy; I couldn’t wait to hear more.

Upon arriving to track four, Baby Please, I was given the impression of music from the 70’s and 80’s. It was so much like those I’ve seen on the ‘best of..’ commercials. This brought a nice mix into the music, allowing something that would attract a difference audience. This is definitely one I can see people getting up and dancing to.

Although most of their music is upbeat, they do slow it down a little by track eight with a song entitled Wrong Things Said The Right Way. I really enjoyed this song. This song seems to sing about hope, as a message to the listener to try what they want to achieve. As long as you follow the song in your heart, you can’t go wrong.

It has been said that “this Las Vegas-based duo comes on strong with killer hooks, irresistible rhythms and sing-along melodies the likes of which are rarely seen.” No truer words could be spoken about the band. Although the duo may sing that “every little thing you say or do is a lie” I can guarantee that it's no lie that you should check out this band.

So what are you waiting for?
