MOVIN' TARGET Unpegged

By MELISSA WISEMAN

Movin Target is described as featuring “multiple lead singers, rich instrumental mixes and several creative songwriters.” They claim that there is something for everyone before their performance has ended. Well let's keep going to see what this band has to offer.

When the music started to play, I was wondering what I was listening to. This isn’t something I would normally pick out myself, and I sat there, wondering what I would write.

I closed my eyes and laid my head back on the sofa. I began envisioning a small bar in a small town, with people sitting around who knew each other, and a band with many instruments that you wouldn’t normally see in the area I’m from. I could picture a group of people together, having a good time, smiling and laughing, dancing around the room.

After looking at the little booklet that accompanied the CD, I took note of the type of instruments that were found throughout the music; Guitar, Keyboards, percussion, drums, harmonica, fiddle. While listening to the music, I felt a calm feeling coming over me.

Upon reaching track three, I imagined people dancing, arm in arm.

Another thing I noticed was that the songs were written based on life experiences. They spoke about decision making, and asked questions to the audience through the simplest of statements: “looking at the world around me. Is my life such a mess?”

“I think I’ve been much too long. I feel a sudden storm coming on.”

I don’t think that’s what’s happening, unless it’s a storm of new fans settling in to see you. All in all, I have to admit this is not something I would normally listen to. But I do have a few people in mind that would love this CD, and I’ll definitely be passing it on.
