THE ROLLING TUNDRA TOUR Live @ Music Hall, London

On a windy and rainy Friday night, The Rolling Tundra Tour, featuring The Weakerthans and Constantines, rolled into London. Fans new and old found their way to the London Music Hall some even in the spirit of “going green.” The Weakerthans in hopes of aiding in the “going green” movement, encouraged their fans to assist them in reducing their carbon footprint by walking, riding a bike or taking public transit to their shows. Fans were rewarded for their efforts with a stylish button upon entering the venue.
A Toronto-based folk group, One Hundred Dollars, kicked off the show. Although their sound was refreshing they could not compete with the buzz of the crowd's anticipation of what was to come.
Following a quick intermission, the Constantines hit the stage in true rockstar fashion. When lead singer Bryan Webb raised the microphone stand above his head the crowd knew they were ready to rock and rock, and they did. The crowd was jump’n and jive’n to every song that these gentlemen played.
Songs like ‘Young Offenders’ and ‘Nighttime, Anytime’, seemed to be a big hit with the crowd. The crowd was also treated to a taste of what was yet to come when John K. Samson, lead singer of The Weakerthans, appeared on stage. The Constantines really know how to put on a rockin show!
Last but not least, The Weakerthans, headliner of the show, took to the stage with a warm enthusiastic welcome from the crowd. They played a clean, well-rounded set with a mix of new and old songs. They rocked out surprisingly hard to ‘A Plea From A Cat Name Virtue.’
It never ceases to amaze me the amount of energy some bands put into their live show! It is not new news to Weakerthans fans that they hail from Winnipeg, Manitoba, as it is the most remembered line from their song ‘One Great City'. Shouts from the crowd rang out with “don’t you just hate Winnipeg?”
The crowd dug their set and insisted they return to the stage for an encore. When the show ended, as all good things must do, people exited the building recanting their favourite moments of the night to everyone and anyone that would listen.
