SARAH BURTON Love Is For Pussies

Love - something that all people, and every other living thing, needs and desires throughout life. We usually associate love with sweet and cheerful thoughts.

In Sarah Burtons’ case, however, “ Love is For Pussies”.

Why does she say so? I’m not too sure myself, but her CD is compelling enough to arouse and share the feelings she portrays within her songs. The sense of anger and annoyance, as well as coy and cute, definitely come through with her words and her graceful singing.

But the other different, yet fresh, aspect of her and her music is the genre variety I heard off of her seven witty tracks. There’s folk, pop rock, country, and alternative within this little CD, and every song was entertaining in its own way. Yet the different genres weaved in together to make all the songs flow perfectly at the same time!

Sarah has a soft, subtle voice and approach to her songs.

Instead of heavy music to match a song with more negativity, she does a musical genre twist to fit with her awesome versatility. A great example of this is “Barcelona”; a song where her lyrics and voice burn with the same fire as its Spanish music. Sarah's words are nothing short of simple, yet meant to leave a sting in the chest!

Another great song, with more of a playful atmosphere to it, is “Up To Here”. It does another switch to her pop rock side with more of a play on words as well. Its rhythm and upbeat style will definitely make you hop along.

“Still” is a beautiful track full of a calm, yet gloomy, air while Sarah's honest words and simple guitar are sharp and clear. And I’m sure everyone can relate to it.

“Love is For Pussies” is an exceptional piece of work, and Sarah Burton is an exceptional folk artist with that little extra flare. It’s the CD to listen to on these breezy summer days, and is good for those love-seekers too!
