SMOKY GREENWELL & THE BLUES GNUS - BETWEEN IRAQ & A HARD PLACE
By DEANNE CARR
Staff Writer
Although not Jazz, this album lends its groove to that of country and blues. I find Smoky Greenwell has a “blues brother” sense of style, what with the harmonica punches and rocky melody.
Definitely upbeat, I found the lyrics some what hard to distinguish.
I find myself thinking of a honky tonk bar with feet shuffling left to right, right to left.
Easy to listen to ... A pick me up audio drug.
I tend to love a slower more sultry sound. This is a definite start to the day dealing with traffic on the 401 and sipping on the Timmy’s.
